Jason Byrne is “Paddy Muck”

Jason Byrne (RTE’s Anonymous) has recently completed a new short comedy film entitled “Paddy Muck”. Shot on location near Swords in Dublin it tells the story of a bunch of rural Irish idiots who try to trick a bus full of rich American tourists out of their money so they can buy a new church, but not everything goes according to plan.

This Mister Bean meets Father Ted comedy, written by Byrne himself, stars a who’s who of Irish Comedy, including Colum McDonnell, Dermot McMorrow (Emily’s Song), John Henedrson (Co-writer), Reuban, Bernard O’Shea, Eamon Bishop, Willy White (Des Bishop’s - Joy in the Hood), Andrew Stanley (I Dare Ya), John Collery, Joan Butler, Eric Lalor and more.

DOP Lisa Thomson (Skeleton Crew). Edited by Andy Kemp (Panorama). Executive producer Gary Reich. Directed by Ewan Taylor and Produced by Brown Eyed Boy (the British company behind BBC’s “Little Miss Jocelyn”) in association with Pale Stone Productions (“Emily’s Song”).

The short was conceived of as a pilot for a TV show of the same name Byrne is writing with John Henderson.

Byrne has just finished recording a show for Radio 4 called “Odd Half Hour” and is currently working on a new show for BBC Radio 2 called “The Jason Byrne Show” due for broadcast in July. He is also touring with his comedy show; go to www.myspace.com/jasonbyrnecomedy for dates and info.
